40-hour Hazardous Materials Incident Commander (TCFP certification class)


Duration: 40 hrs


This course is based on NFPA 472 and after successful completion of the class the student can register to take the Texas Commission on Fire Protection Hazardous Materials Incident Commander certification test. This course supplies the student  with the knowledge and skills to perform the role of Incident Commander (IC). The IC is responsible for all decisions relating to the management of the incident at releases or potential releases of hazardous materials. The candidate will learn about branch functions within the Incident Management System and the overall tactics to coordinate hazmat team members and properly mitigate a hazardous materials incident.

Target Audience: Firefighters

Prerequisite: Certified Firefighter I/II or Certified Volunteer Firefighter (IFSAC or ProBoard), Hazmat Awareness and Hazmat Operations certifications.

Recommended: Certified Hazmat Technician
