On Scene Incident Commander (ICS) [29 CFR 1910.120(q)]

This class is for those who will assume incident command at a hazardous materials event. The Incident Commander assumes control of the incident scene and coordinates hazmat team members to safely and effectively mitigate the event.

Target Audience: Industry

Prerequisite: 24-hour First Responder Operations level or 24-hour Hazmat Technician

Annual refresher training is required to maintain certification

Course meets the following training requirements:

  • 29 CFR 1910.120 (q)(6)(v)
  • 29 CFR 1926.65(q)(6)(v)


  • Incident Command System (ICS / NIMS)
  • Implementing the employer's incident command system
  • Implementing the employer's emergency response plan
  • Hazards and risks associated with employees working in chemical protective clothing
  • Implement the local emergency response plan
  • State emergency response plan and the Federal Regional Response Team
  • Decontamination procedures
